Ty Hyll or Ugly House is situated just outside Capel Curig in Snowdonia and is now a lovely little tea room owned by the Snowdonia Society. The building is shrouded in mystery, with its origins reportedly going back to 1475 when 2 brothers built themselves a hideaway in the forest. The date is carved over the fireplace.
Why it's called the Ugly House I don't know as I think it's beautiful!
I originally painted it in watercolour using wax resist to give some texture to the stonework and roof.
