North-east Wales, where I live is a stronghold for these beautiful birds and I will often hear their 'bubbling' call if out walking early or later in the day at the times they 'lek'.
When displaying, establishing their place in a lek they look stunning which is how I've painted this one as if proudly overlooking his territory
